Excerpts:
Gina's New York apartment. The present.

Gina and Amy

GINA:

What kind of woman are you attracted to? What turns you on?

AMY:
I don't know...all kinds. (pause)… I don't mean that I'm promiscuous or a nymphomaniac or anything like that. I just mean that I don't have a special type or stereotype that I like. It depends on the woman.

GINA:
What about her does it depend on?

AMY:
That's hard to say.

GINA:

You must know what you like.

AMY:

Oh. Well, uh, I like someone who is, uh...nice. You know...a nice person.

GINA:

Nice?

AMY:
Yeah. Nice.

GINA:

Okay. What else?

AMY:

Uh...interesting...definitely interesting.

GINA:

Interesting and nice. Well, those are important qualities. (pause) I know exactly what kind of woman I'm attracted to.

AMY:
You do?

GINA:

Uh huh.

AMY:

Someone like your ex, Robin. It's good to know what you want, I guess.

GINA:

Why would I want someone like Robin again? She walked out on me.

AMY:

Oh, right. I just thought...

GINA:

No, I want someone totally opposite from Robin.

AMY:

Oh. Well, that makes sense. It does.

GINA:

Uh huh. I want someone more like you, for instance. You know, I haven't thought about Robin once since you got here.

[GINA kisses AMY and they embrace. THEY break away and look at each other.]

GINA:

What are you thinking?

AMY:

I'm thinking what a nice and interesting person you are.

Excerpt II:
GINA's New York apartment. Several months later.

Gina and Robin.

ROBIN:

You're a goddamned control freak. I let you push me around for four years. Now you found someone else you think you can bully.

GINA:
Amy does exactly what she chooses to do. She makes her own decisions.

ROBIN:

Oh yeah? Then tell me why the apartment looks exactly the same as when I left a year ago. Where are Amy's things?

GINA:
What are you talking about?

ROBIN:

There isn't a single thing of Amy's around. Not a picture, not a knick-knack, nothing here that's hers that I can see. Why not? You only made enough room for her to fit into your life. What about hers? Did you put away anything of yours to make room for something of hers? Tell me one thing you did around here to make her feel this was her home, too.
